The new incubator

In a few weeks, we will be picking up new chicks to add to our flock of laying hens. So, what we decided to do is try and hatch a few of our own chicks, just to see if we can do it. If it turns out that our roosters are doing their jobs, and we have fertilized eggs and can get them to hatch, the timing will be perfect.

The robins are back

If you've visited our website in the past, then it probably looks a little different to you, today. I did some upgrading to my web hosting plan and changed the domain to something over which I have more control. The hosting plan also provides me a method of hosting multiple domains. The tools we used to build our tiny house

I was re-organizing and tidying up the tools I have stored in the storage container and thought I would talk a little bit about what we used to build our tiny house. When we moved out here, we had no grid power; just our solar bank. So, we had to use tools that we could both afford and suite the situation.

Feeling the cold fingers of winter

This past weekend got a little colder for most of us in the prairie provinces. Overnight temperatures dropped down to between -29C and -31C with wind chills down into the -40s. However, thankfully, the cold snap didn't last too long (about three days in total). Temperatures are back on the rise.

Water project finshed before winter arrives

Been a long time since posting an update here, I know. My apologies for that, but just haven't had the extra time or bandwidth to keep posting here, as well as do videos for the new YouTube channel. But, winter is coming, so perhaps, if the bandwidth can remain “manageable”, perhaps I'll have more down time to devote to the blog.
